BC Student Outcomes Surveys
BC Student Outcomes conducts annual surveys of former students from British Columbia’s post-secondary institutions. The results help shape the future of post-secondary education in British Columbia by providing valuable information to post-secondary institutions, the provincial government, career counselors, parents and prospective students. All surveys collect information either by telephone or online. Below are the descriptions of the surveys and the groups of students who respond.
BC Student Outcomes conducts annual surveys of:
Baccalaureate Graduates (BGS)
Baccalaureate graduates provide feedback on employment outcomes, further education, student debt, skill development, program evaluation, and education satisfaction. They are surveyed two years after graduating. Approximately 80 percent of those surveyed in this group graduated from a research-intensive university.
Diploma, Associate degree, & Certificate Students (DAC)
Former diploma, associate degree, and certificate students provide feedback on their employment outcomes, further education, skill development, program evaluations and education satisfaction. They are surveyed approximately 18 months after completing programs at public colleges, institutes, and teaching-intensive universities.
Apprenticeship Students (APP)
Former students who have completed the final year of their apprenticeship technical training provide feedback on their in-school and workplace training, the usefulness of the knowledge and skills they gained, their level of satisfaction with their training and their post-training employment. Approximately 20 percent of their training is in-school, at a public post-secondary institution or private training organization.
Former students who have completed trades foundation or trades-related vocational programs at a public post-secondary institution give feedback on their skill development, pathway to apprenticeship, employment outcomes and level of satisfaction with their studies.
